A forum for film enthusiasts in Leeds.

We run film screenings featuring presentations from film researchers from across the UK, and group discussions (often accompanied by refreshments!).

Listen, watch, discuss.

If you want to get involved

We send out calls for film presentations at the beginning of the academic year. However, if you’re interested in presenting a film, don’t wait for us to get in touch! Contact us either via email, our contact page, or our Facebook page, and we’ll see about including you in the program.

A little more about us

Leeds Cineforum is run by Maddalena Moretti and Rachel Johnson, from the Italian Department at the University of Leeds.

Previously the Arts PGR film club, we used to screen movies only on campus, giving PGRs working on cinema the opportunity to present and discuss a movie they were researching.

From September 2017, we started promoting film culture around Leeds, creating a forum for film enthusiasts across the city. Our venues include Wharf Chambers, the Hyde Park Book Club and The Brunswick. If you would like to discuss putting on a screening in your venue, please get in touch!

Generously supported by the Centre for World Cinemas and Digital Cultures’ Sadler Seminar Series. Previous editions supported by the AHRC OWRI Cross Language Dynamics fund.
